I know it's been quiet around here. Forgive me my silence, as I've been trying to help V get her big end-of-month internship assignment together, and find a dress for a 20s party I'm attending tomorrow, and juggle a pretty busy week and another one coming up next week.
I'm still here, and still reading. Just not as talkative as usual!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteMy name is Alice, I'm in my early twenties and a voracious reader of blogs. (Seriously, it's my therapy and procrastination!)
I stumbled across your blog today after your post on Love, Joy, Feminism and wanted to say how much I identify with you and your story.
I'm currently finishing my undergrad in Melbourne, Australia and have been with my partner D, for two years. Though we're a long way off from even thinking of marriage, let alone kids, I also babysit a gorgeous 3 year old.
Though I didn't grow up terribly Christian (and my partner certainly didn't) your story of finding love, coming out to friends and family and keeping things secret resonates so strongly with my own experiences, it's like looking in the mirror. Hell, I even refer to myself as a 'straight girl with a girlfriend!'
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for for having the courage and generosity to blog about your experiences and I look forward to reading more of your story.
Grazie,
Alice
Hi Alice! It's awesome to meet you; thanks for saying hi. I love being able to relate to people (especially on the days when my life feels weird!). I'm glad I wasn't the only straight girl with a girlfriend - that was certainly a strange period of life. While I hate that you can relate to keeping things secret, well, I like that you can relate. :) Welcome! Lina
